Risks and safety:
Every cosmetic procedure carries risk. Some risks are small and expected. Some are less common and require specific management. A small number are serious and require immediate medical attention.
Reading this before you book anywhere, at this practice or any other, is worthwhile. A clinic that will not discuss risks openly is not the clinic to trust with a medical procedure.

What we do
to minimise risk
Risk cannot be eliminated. It can be reduced through consistent practice.
- Pre-procedure medical assessment covering history, medications, previous procedures
- Active contraindication screening rather than assumption
- Sterile technique for any procedure involving skin penetration
- Products and devices sourced through legitimate regulated supply chains, TGA-approved for intended use
- Named practitioner throughout — consultation and procedure by the same doctor
- Written aftercare instructions including warning signs to watch for
- Direct clinic contact for follow-up questions
- Documentation of consent, procedure, products, parameters, advice in your clinical record
- Referral to appropriate specialist where finding suggests medical rather than cosmetic issue
Your consent, your cooling off period,
your right to decline
Consent is not a form you sign so a procedure can proceed. It is a process, and you retain rights throughout it.
- Before consultation: right to decline attending
- During consultation: right to information about procedure, risks, alternatives, doing nothing
- At consent point: right to time to consider before signing
- After consent, before procedure: right to withdraw consent at any point
- For under-18 patients: mandatory 7-day cooling off (Sept 2025 AHPRA)
- During procedure: right to ask practitioner to stop
If something goes wrong:
reporting and complaints
Reporting is your right. This practice supports it and does not view it as adversarial. Proper reporting is how the healthcare system stays safe for other patients.
